This is where it all began... A watershed project, revealing the potential and design possibilities in shaping space to also effect acoustics, clarity, comprehension, noise management and sensory experience.

The meandering geological form and canyon-link interiors of the new Block A building references the red cliffs and geological strata of the nearby Werribee River on Kurung-jang-balluk clan land which translates to "red ground people". Importantly, connection to Country and place is integral to the architecture, interiors, materiality and planning of this project.

During early project briefing stage, it was understood that a significant number of student were neurodivergent or required additional sensory support to full engage with their learning. Responding to this need, internal planning of 16 Learning Bases strategically angled walls to control and prevent flutter echo, further connecting the dynamic building exterior with its internal spaces.

Ilana Razbash was the both the Design & Project Architect on the $10.6m for the Victorian School Building Authority whilst at ThomsonAdsett, driving this project from Schematic Design through to Tender Award. Navigating complex market conditions of 2021-2022, Razbash not only maintained design intent whilst keeping the project on time and on budget but also found design potential through acoustic engineering and building physics to affect architectural form, sound frequencies and prevent flutter echo.
